Healthy Lifestyle – Daily Diet

February 26, 2017,

Dear Readers,

This post is in response to the numerous inquiries I’ve been receiving from my social media followers and friends. I will finally answer everyone’s questions regarding my newly adapted fitness and healthy lifestyle!!! Since the beginning of my fitness journey, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about my diet and food intake. After collecting as much information and methods which works well for me, I’m finally ready to share it with everyone!

KEEP IN MIND: I am NOT a fitness or nutrition expert! This diet and food ideas are taken from various sources such as the internet, books, magazines, my friends, and family. This diet worked incredibly well for me and is such an easy diet to implement and maintain! This diet highly contributed into my weight loss and is now an essential part of my lifestyle. Primarily, this diet simply focuses on low to non carbohydrate foods. Meaning, this requires one to consume lots of vegetables, meat, and fruits!! I truly hope that through following these healthy food ideas would help you lose some weight OR simply assist you in living healthier! So, without further ado, here’s what I would eat on a typical day:

BREAKFAST

My breakfast typically consists of fruits, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, and eggs. My favourite go to fruit is avocado!! I am honestly obsessed with avocados!!! Avocados are also rich in vitamins such as Folate, Vitamins K, E, and C. In addition, avocados are also a great source for fiber and potassium.

On a normal day, I would eat my avocados on its own topped with some seasoning (Lemon & Pepper Seasoning by Clubhouse). OR I would create an avocado toast which I would normally eat along with a fried or boiled egg. If I have some tomatoes, I would even add those in my avocado toast!

GREEK YOGURT RECIPE:

Whenever I get bored of eating eggs and avocados, I would switch my breakfast to a hearty Greek yogurt. Eating Greek yogurt on its own is quite dull, which is why I add some fruits and maple syrup OR honey to sweeten things up! Here’s a quick recipe:

-1 cup PLAIN Greek Yogurt

-Choice of 1 large banana OR 1 cup of berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries etc.)

-1 tbsp maple syrup OR honey

-2 tsp chia seeds

-1 tbsp dark chocolate chips (optional)

LUNCH

My lunches when I’m at home are often light, due to the fact that I would still feel full from my breakfast. On a typical day if I’m at home, I would most likely create scrambled eggs for lunch. To keep my scrambled eggs interesting, I like to add spinach and tomatoes to my scrambled eggs!!

When I’m at school, I often eat what I meal prepped for that week (an example is pictured above). My meal preps are also simple. I would pack chicken with lots of veggies such as sautéed mushrooms, broccoli and carrots. I also bring 2 mandarin oranges, apples, strawberries, OR an avocado with me to school. This would complete my lunch and keep me going throughout the rest of the day.

SNACKS

When I’m at home, I often find myself snacking on apples and… MORE AVOCADOS!!!!! I wasn’t kidding when I said I’m obsessed with avocados… seriously… avocados makes my life complete!!

When I’m at school, I pack fruits as mentioned already… or I munch on nuts too! My favorite snack as of late are garlic and salted peanuts!!! Another healthy snack alternative are almonds, which I also recommend.

DINNER

My dinners are often revolved around salads and high protein foods. In terms of protein, I prefer chicken for my dinners. A few days ago, my friend Allison cooked me a delicious chicken and mushroom soup (seen on the second picture below the “DINNER” heading). I will steal the recipe from her and recreate it on my own sometime within this week. Hopefully, I’ll be able to share that recipe with everyone soon!! (SO STAY TUNED!!)

Salads are easy!!! You can get fairly creative with your salads too!! For the most part, I really enjoy eating kale OR spinach salads with cucumbers, tomatoes, pears/apples and NO dressing. I really dislike a salad drenched in TOO MUCH dressing… which is also why I prefer my salads to have NO dressing at all.

DESSERTS????

I haven’t discovered a healthy dessert yet… but when I do, I’ll definitely share it with you all!

To wrap everything, I truly hope you give these basic yet healthy foods a try!! Trust me when I say this, but IT REALLY WORKS FOR LOSING WEIGHT!! I strictly began my low carbohydrate diet about 3 months ago and I had lost 25 pounds since then!! I also routinely workout 5 times a week and given my stressful days at school… this diet is more than enough in giving me energy and sustenance. Give this diet a quick try for the next month, and let me know how well it works for you!!

Good luck guys!! May the fitness and health Gods be with US ALL!

With love,

Mary Dezleigh Teodosio.
