One of my main goals this summer is to accomplish at least 5 big hikes within Alberta! To start my summer, I dragged my dear friend along with me to Ha Ling Peak. The hike itself was not too difficult and our ascent time took 2 hours and 30 minutes (with mini breaks in between). Our descent time took around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Overall, the hike was a nice way to start the summer hiking season for it was a moderate hike and completely manageable. The weather was perfect too!!! It wasn’t too hot nor too cold. The trail was muddy (from the snow melting) in some areas, but for the most part the trail was clear from any other obstacles.
Although my friend and I were tired from walking up, once we reached the top, the view was definitely worth all the work! At the peak, you can see the town of Canmore as well as a vast view of the mountains. In addition, during this hike I gained a whole new appreciation for life. I live in a beautiful country, and I want to keep exploring to discover as much of Canada’s hidden gems as possible. You see, we only live once, so why not make the best of it?!
Here are my Alberta hiking trails to conquer this Summer 2017:
1.) Ha Ling Peak (DONE)
2.) Mt. Yamnuska
3.) Mt. Baldy
4.) Lake Agnes
5.) Aylmer Lookout
6.) Prairie View Lookout
